Delgatie Castle Fishing Report w/e 28/6/14
« on: 30/06/2014 at 00:51 »
The past week has been noted as one with much lower temperatures which has been exacerbated by the cool north/north easterly wind which has prevailed for the entire week. However water conditions are now near perfect with temperatures moderate and at last the water is running clear and at this stage we have not encountered any weed problems. Hopefully this will continue as weed is normally a plague at this time but the coloured water which we had to endure for the past month has filtered out the sunshine which encourages algae and weed growth.
The fishing conditions were favourable and some good catches were recorded, the best amongst these being; A Murray, Gardenstown, 68 fish over several visits, (white nomad, yellow fritz, olive fritz), P Keir, Fyvie, 28 fish, (Kate MacLaren, black fritz), N Thomson, Turriff, 19 fish, (buzzer), A West, Fraserburgh, 10 fish, (hothead, lime nymph), S Griffiths, Fordyce, 9 fish, (white fritz), C Watt, St Fergus, 8 fish, (WSW), G Watt, Turriff, 8 fish, (buzzers), L Francis, Turriff, 8 fish, (lures, buzzers).
Also 5 members of the Civil Service Angling Club from Aberdeen landed 18 fish using sedges, daddies, buzzers and nymphs.
Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery is a Troutmaster water and is open 7 days from 8:00am with closing times this week at 10:00pm and anglers wishing to fish to 10:00pm should book in by 7:00pm.
