At last, a week where we cannot complain about fishing conditions, albeit some rather bright sunshine and a lack of rainwater did not make the conditions perfect. The sun drove the fish deeper and they are still taking lures fished on intermediate lines whilst also being tempted by wet and dry flies. Buzzers are still proving very productive either at lower levels when allowed to sink or near the surface when retrieved more quickly. Altogether, although this week has not produced large numbers, it was encouraging to see so many anglers landing fish.
The best recorded catches this week fell to; J West, Fraserburgh, 25 fish, (cat's whisker, buzzers), A Murray, Gardenstown, 23 fish, (cat's whisker, yellow fritz), J Rennie, Buckie, 9 fish, (bloodworm), G Murison, Fraserburgh, 7 fish, (sedge, lures), M Rawding, Fraserburgh, 7 fish, (bunny leech), K Armstrong, Fraserburgh, 6 fish, (daddy, buzzers), J Alexander, Huntly, 5 fish, (dry fly, buzzers), M Troup, Methlick, 5 fish, (black wets), C Field, Fraserburgh, 5 fish, (buzzers), I Black, Turriff, 5 fish, (red buzzer).
The weather next week is forecast to continue in a similar vein and hopefully produce good conditions.
