Hi folks

Forgive the total newbie ignorance / question
Have a basic fly outfit for wee while now but only ever fished in local trout ponds ..... Pull up tie on a fly .. Thrash water too buggery .... If lucky .... Hame wi a rainbow ...

Now that is as far as my knowledge goes ....  Period

So my query
How do I go bout fishing local rivers for brownies ?
I have no idea of the law / permissions or where to start

I'm in Montrose
Would love to follow someone for a couple hours etc just to learn

I think you would get a lot from spending some time with an instructor - doesn't cost the earth - and ask for a days crash course in river work. Who knows, you might want two or three sessions in the end Maybe more
It will be money well spent and will give you 'a leg up' rather than trying to do it all yourself

Any recommendations on instructors local to me Montrose ?
I know if tom & jean at Kinnaird estate but lady I'd heard tom was not well quite serious ... I'm not keen on phoning / intruding
