Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

The Aul Troot

At last we are able to report a change in weather conditions during the past week and although the change was not dramatic, it was sufficient to note an improvement in fish activity which was reflected in higher catch numbers. The week was still hampered by annoying breezes but the reduction in rainfall allowed the water levels to lower and the colour to reduce.
The best catches this week still fell to lures but the level of the "take" was higher in the water and we saw the buzzer and bloodworm presentations enjoying more success.
The best recorded catches for this week fell to; A Murray, Gardenstown, 15 fish, (pink cat's whisker), M Stewart, Methlick, 12 fish, (olive fritz), J Abel, Fraserburgh, 9 fish, (blob), K Murray, Fraserburgh, 9 fish, (cat's whisker), J Laing, Aberdeen, 8 fish, (fritz), N Thomson, Turriff, 8 fish, (green buzzer).
A Murray recorded an 8lb and a 5lb fish amongst his catch.
The weather conditions for the coming week are still unsettled with a colder spell due at the weekend.
