The past week has seen the continuance of the adverse weather conditions with constant rain or heavy showers accompanied by stiff breezes leading to high water levels and with the surrounding fields feeding into the water course the water has been coloured all week. Whilst the weather dictated the lower number of anglers attending the fishery, the fish continued to be caught but much more attention had to be paid to the colours and depth together with the retrieval speed. Consistent with the time of year the fish are not feeding aggressively and are therefore more difficult to entice to take any presentation made.
The only productive fishing has been in response to lures with blobs and fritz being most successful and of these the brighter colours seem to enjoy more success.
L Adams from Aberdeen enjoyed the most successful outing with a total bag of 12 fish including one at 7lb 4oz and another at 5lb.
The coming week suggest that rainfall may not be as heavy and water levels and clarity should return to nearer normal which together with the introduction of our first 2014 stocking should lead to more encouraging results.
