The weather this past week has been quite mixed with periods which were conducive to good fishing and other periods where the fish were quite lethargic and not feeding actively. The evening hatches are beginning to yield dividends with the dry fly, spiders and small wets coming into their own. Some good catches have been recorded with the following anglers coming out tops.
A Murray, Gardenstown, 22 fish, (Budgie, Fritz and Nomad), P Keir, Fyvie, 18 fish, (Black lures), P Bradley, Ellon, 12 fish, (Spider, Suspender and Bibio), K Fraser, Greeness, 12 fish, (Daddy, Yellow Dancer), L Davidson, Macduff, 11 fish, (Yellow Dancer, Diawl Bach), N Thomson, Macduff, 10 fish, (Hopper, CDC), J Abel, Fraserburgh, 10 fish, (Blobs, Cat's Whisker).
The water is definitely in need of freshening up and the rainfall predicted for the coming week should help. Otherwise the temperatures should lower and the combination of fresh water and low temperatures should encourage fish activity.
