The past week has seen mixed weather with cold winds and low temperatures although despite the conditions good catches were recorded. The majority of catches fell to lures with WSW, Cat's Whisker and Blobs being the preferred options and the fish responding to quick retrieve in the upper water column. C Watt from St Fergus recorded a personal best of 13lb 2oz during his productive trip.
The best recorded catches this week were; C Watt, St Fergus, 22 fish, (Cat's Whisker), J West, Fraserburgh, 19 fish, (Blob, Cat's Whisker), A Gibson, Gardenstown, 14 fish, (Various lures), N Thomson, Turriff, 9 fish, (Fritz, Cormorant), D Furey, Peterhead, 9 fish, (Blobs), L Davidson, Macduff, 8 fish, (Nomad), C Anderson, Macduff, 7 fish, (Cormorant).
The forecast for the next few days is decidedly mixed but the period between Christmas and New Year may be more settled.
Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery is a Troutmaster water and is open seven days from 8:00am til 4:00pm or as light permits. Visitors and novices are welcome and boats (where required) rods and tackle is available for hire at the fishery.
The fishery will remain open during the festive season apart from Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
