The past week has seen a mixture of weather with mild conditions on some days with rain and gales interspersed throughout the week. Despite the mixed weather and temperatures fish have been active on the surface or high in the water column. Most of the fish caught have been secured by the use of lures and particularly on olive WSW although the fish have taken the tackle immediately sub surface on a quick retrieve.
A Gibson, Gardenstown enjoyed a particularly productive day and whilst recording a catch of 40 fish he admitted to having lost count and suggested a conservative estimate. His success was down to WSW and various other lures.
The best recorded catches this week were; A Gibson, Gardenstown, 40 fish, (WSW, lures), J West, Fraserburgh, 15 fish, (WSW, blobs), A Murray, Gardenstown, 15 fish, (black lures), I Burnett, Fraserburgh, 12 fish, (cat's whisker), S MacLean, Fraserburgh, 10 fish, (black fritz), N Thomson, Turriff, 8 fish, (buzzers).
The coming week appears to be mixed weather wise with temperatures at least high enough to alleviate the fear of icing and with the diminishing natural feed the fish are becoming more attracted to artificial presentations. Hopefully a good week in view.
