Glen of Rothes trout and coarse fishery
With high temperatures this week it slowed everything down as fish went down to the deeper water to find some cooler areas as water temperatures went up near 18 degrees.Early mornings and evenings were the best time of day and produced good results.With cloud cover the fishing certainly came to life and dropped away as the sun came back.Most anglers did catch with only a few blanks and lures,buzzers were the flies which worked best on intermediate lines stroked along the bottom.Occasinally dry fly did work but it wasnt prolific as previous days when conditions were more fishing orientated.The best fish of the week went to Tom Anderson with a weighed and witnessed 14lb 2ozs fish after taking the net weight off,but it wasnt enough to take the summer weekend bumper prize as he was on catch and release so the winner of this weeks prize and new Rod went to David Mckay who landed a beauty at 9lb 11ozs and followed up with an8lb 6oz fish for total 2 fish of 18lbs 1oz.Not far behind was Kevin Middlemiss who had two good fish of 8lb 2oz and 7lb 11ozs for 16lb 13 ozs,he also had a nice Tiger trout returned.Jim eddie had a fish of 8lb 6oz and a 6lb fish,Ian Hastie came close with a fish of 8lb 9ozs,Ray Stewart had a fish of 8lb 8ozs,Gordon Grant a 6lber among his 7 fish,Anthony MacDonald had a fish of 5lb 8oz,Mike Paul had a surprise of a Bream on a buzzer,Colin Gault had 12 on lures and montana nymphs.Averages were down on last week with fish caught to around 3 fish which in the current climate isnt bad and anglers reported plenty of fish lost and" touches" , but little hook ups as a result.Its important to mention with the heat to get fish in quickly as possible and released in the water as fish will die easily with the conditions the way they are so great care is required and dont take them out of the water if being released.The prize for each Summer bumper weekend is on the website each Friday.
Coarse Loch
Coarse fish on the other hand react different to heat as they love it and it certainly showed in the numbers being caught by anglers this week who really enjoyed some great fishing.Soft pellet was the bait that worked well with the other being maggot.Both the pole and bottom feeders worked and Paul Nash enjoyed some very good sessions with mixed bags of well over 5o fish a session of Rudd,Carp,Ide and bream.Kev Mant had the same with Skimmers,Carp and Ide,Dave Latty did well with Carp to 6lbs,Bream,Roach and perch,he also lost a bigger fish.James Swift had a few bream,Russell Frankland the same mixed bag,Geortge Danial,Kieron Fibbrell, and Tom Gordon all had fish also.Its best to book here on the coarse loch as it is busy and to ensure you can get on as at times it is fully booked,especially weekends.
