At last-have we seen the start of the "dry fly" fishing with notable catches falling to Hoppers during the past week even although the "rises" have been erratic. R Donald, Macduff landed 20 fish from a brown Hopper in two short periods and included an 8lb fish in his bag.
Whilst lures of all colours have still accounted for good catches, the top anglers have been using Buzzers, Spiders and Nymphs to good advantage and although the weather has remained cool, good fishing conditions were still being enjoyed.
The best recorded catches this week were;
P Bradley, Ellon, 25 fish, (Spiders), R Donald, Macduff, 20 fish, (Hopper/Buzzers), A Murray, Gardenstown, 20 fish, (White Nomad), J Mackay, Macduff, 13 fish, (Blob), S Easthope, Mintlaw, 8 fish, (Buzzer), G Littler, Newmachar, 7 fish, (Yellow Dancer).
A remarkable number of larger specimens were also recorded with P Bradley, S Easthope, A Murray and R Donald all landing fish in the 7lb to 12lb range.
