Glen Of Rothes Trout fishery

Sandstorms and gales didnt make it good for fishing this week, but once it settled down fish became active aswell as anglers and fishing was good, especially close to the top with suspender buzzers, emergers and dry fly working with slow retrieves.Lures also did well especially black scruffs and damsel patterns.Red buzzers worked very well and gavin Addison used them to their potential taking 14 fish with a 6lb 7ozs and a 5lb 7oz fish among them and returning 2 over 5lbs.It was a week for those named Gavin as angler Gavin Crombie has a superb 4 hours with a bag of 2 fish for 20lbs 12ozs,his fish a 11lb 3oz and a 9lb 9ozs making tthis up taken on a black scruff.Ron Phillips took a caracking specimen at 9lb 13ozs and full tailed and streamline which gave a good account of itself,Ewan Cameron also caughta good fish at 8lb 14ozs,Archie Miller returned a 7lb fish after already having his limit,Brian Anderson a 5lb 6oz,Paul Kelly a 6lber,Ronnie Mair of Buckie had a 5lb fish ,Jim Watson a 4lb 3ozs,Neil Stone a 4lb 5oz,James McInnes a 6lber,Dave Dyke had a good day with 11fish,Sandy Munro 12,Steve Urwin 10,Tom Anderson 10,Barry Ward 12,Willie Petrie7,Bob Mann 7, and most others ranged between 3 and 6 fish per session with only a couple of blanks over the week, which the weather didnt help.Plenty were reporting being broken after long hard runs from fish so check knots and breaking strengths of line to be on the safe side.Signs are showing now that the best of the sport is nearly here and the surface fishing should be worth the wait and some really good fishing to be had.Plenty of fish showing close to the top which is always encouraging.

Coarse Loch.
With warmer temps,it has finally got fish moving and John Allsop had a good day with Carp to 5lbs,roach,bream and Ide among a good bag for his day,John Norman and his son had roach and a couple of brown trout,John Porter had roach,Bob Jackson had a very good bag of Rudd, roach and Carp to 2lb 8oz.Best bait is still the maggot, but pellet did work for some also on the pole.
