Thats a shame.

Indeed a great shame, an innovator and a character that will sorely be missed.

Aww, that has ruined my day.
There goes another fishing character. I had the pleasure of having him moan at me that Harris tweed was a tough to sew when he made me some rod bags, from my own material.  And I loved the way that Shakey tubes were "exact" copies of Spartons except for the 180 degree seat design.  :z4
Who's laughing now? Steve Parton is!
Rest in peace Steve, and long may your rudder steer you on the right course!  :z4

No more sweary conversations on the phone about various American blanks..lol.

Certainly a larger than life character. I wonder what will happen with Sparton?

Sad news  :cry, his catalogues were always a great read.... nothing to do with the tackle but his comments were priceless.

All,
I have to agree this is sad, Although he did not sound it he was a Scotsman and was a great laugh on the phone when ordering bits and pieces, he will be sadly missed.

Eddie.
