Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

The Aul Troot

The week started off with heavily coloured water which began to clear by Monday and with having Christmas Day off we returned to find that the water was in reasonable condition. However, the constant breeze and low temperatures drove the fish deeper and reluctant to feed. Some anglers rose to these conditions and A Murray from Gardenstown netted 22 fish on a Black Fritz with J Abel, Fraserburgh landing 8 fish to 9lb using a Pink Blob. C Fraser from Turriff netted 7 fish to 8lb with Orange Fritz and WSW being his favoured lure. S Paterson, Aberdeen also netted a personal best of 10lb plus.

Conditions forecast for the new week look reasonable and now that the water has returned to normal colour we expect good catches for the week. The fishery will be closed on New Year's Day (Tuesday) but will be open at all other times.

The staff and management wish all their friends and customers best wishes for 2013 with "tight lines" at regular intervals.

Delgatie Castle is a Troutmaster water which is open from 8:00am til dusk and booking is not necessary. Boats, rods and tackle is available for hire and visitors and novices are welcome.
