Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

The Aul Troot

The weather this week has been favourable for fishing and good catches were recorded with the total fish catches divided between lures fished deep and buzzers, most of which were fished well down with indicators. The most successful lures have been the olive or orange fritz type whilst the buzzers were most successful as black with a flourescent colouring either in a bead or dressing. Although we are still seeing a considerable amount of surface activity, it has proved difficult to contact these fish. The best catches this week were recorded by: A Gibson, Gardenstown, 28 fish, (Olive and Orange Fritz), D Stewart, Kintore, 15 fish, (Buzzers), C Stephen, Fraserburgh, 9 fish, (Yellow Fritz), K Maddocks, Aberdeen, 8 fish, (Pink Bunny Leech), N Thomson, Turriff, 8 fish, (Buzzers), N Thomson, Macduff, 8 fish, (Orange Fritz), D Stanford, Peterhead, 7 fish, (Buzzers).

D Stanford included a specimen 8lb fish amongst his catches. The forecast weatherwise for the coming week suggests that the weather will be milder than the past week and should ensure that fishing conditions remain favourable.
