The fishery is still open despite the temperature and whilst ice is restricting the area, approximately half the area is still clear and the forecast suggests that this will remain so, or improve for the next few days anyway. The forecasters are being somewhat reticent about next weekend and we suggest a phone call to Bob on 07980 999 006 would be advisable. Hopefully we can remain open all week and that we can maintain catches during this period.
Some good returns were recorded this week and leading the table were the following anglers;
A Gibson, Gardenstown, 26 fish, (Damsel nymph), G Thomson, Buckie, 14 fish, (Black WSW), N Thomson, Turriff, 8 fish, (Buzzers and various lures).
The order of the day appeared to be "fish deep" but not dredging the bottom as most catches were recorded at 3-5ft down on a reasonably fast retrieve using an intermediate sinking line.
As we approach the year end it is nice to record that the fishery has had a successful year and we have enjoyed meeting new faces on a regular basis.
Delgatie Castle is a Troutmaster water and is open all year round with the exception of Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Visitors and beginners are always welcome and tackle including boats, rods and fishing gear is available for hire.
Current opening times are 8:00am til dark seven days each week and further information is available from Bob on 07980 999 006.
