Hello all,

This is my first ever post and will probably seem like a really stupid question to some but I need to ask/know!

When tying the likes of a wet Greenwells for example, it says the primrose silk must be well waxed. I take it the wax is cobblers wax? When I give it a good waxing it just seems to turn really dark like almost black. Does it look different in the water or am I being too heavy on the waxing?

Please can one of you knowledgable fellas clear this up for me?

Dark Olive perhaps? seems like that could be the colour you want

  Ok so I'm not so good with the colours then.

To my eye it just looked black, maybe I should give up on the fly tying!

Please don't give up you'll have endless hours of fun.............and a life of penury

No definitely don't give up. Use as much wax as you require depending on how dark yor light you want the colour to be.
If you ever need to know anything else , don't be afraid to ask. I'm sure someone here might or most probably will be able to give you an answer.
