Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

The Aul Troot

A full week of reasonably good fishing weather with the sheltered location preventing the wind from becoming uncomfortable and enough rainfall to keep the water fresh. The last go at weed removal has resulted in good fishing conditions and thankfully we have managed to retain this during the Sunner season although like all fisheries, weed will always present a problem.

The fish have certainly gone down this week and catches have been recorded only on to end tackle, Buzzers and lures with the dry fly conspicuous by it's absence.

Good catches were recorded with the leading anglers being;

P Green, Huntly, 23 fish, (Buzzers), C Field, Fraserburgh, 19 fish, (Pink Blob), A West, Fraserburgh, 19 fish, (Cat's Whisker), J West, Peterhead, 12 fish, (Cat's Whisker), M Ewen jnr, Turriff, 9 fish, (Okay Dokey/Buzzers), N Thomson, Turriff, 8 fish, (Buzzers), B Milne, Whitehills, 7 fish, (Cat's Whiskers), K Gillies, Huntly, 7 fish, (Buzzers)

After a gap of several weeks P Green, Huntly and B Milne, Whitehills pulled out a tagged fish each and went home better off.

Delgatie Castle is a Troutmasterwater where beginners and youngsters are welcome and booking is not necessary. Boats (where required), rods and tackle is available for hire.

The fishery is open 7 days from 8:00am. For further information phone Bob on 07980 999 006. :z15
