Plenty of Awards at Lochter Fishery
« on: 28/02/2011 at 13:26 »
While the bookies favourite, Colin Firth was comfortably sweeping the boards at the Oscars ceremony in Hollywood .There was a much tighter contest at Lochter Fishery Oldmeldrum  where the local BAFTA`s  “Best Angler For Trout Awards”were up for grabs.
On Sunday the banks of the Osprey and Heron lochs were lined with well turned out  and star studded hopefuls ,desperate to catch a trout or three and at the same time catch the eye of the judges from the Angling Academy.
When the votes were all tallied the winner of the glittering award was Alan Logan for his faultless performance  in “Sixteen Buzzer Caught Rainbows”.The Best Supporting Angler award went to Davy Wood for his role in the epic “WSW 3” and the Best Newcomer  award went to young  Jock Ewing for “A Cast Too Far”?.

Earlier in the week there was plenty of action for anglers in the mixed conditions.J Parsons used a black and green straggle to attract fourteen ,A Pirie had eleven on a mini cat and Paul Sharp eighteen on a mixture of black lures and buzzers.Fish of the week was a thirteen pounder caught by J Farquhar on a black fritz and there were plenty of good fighting fish in the five to seven pound class caught all through the week.
The weather has taken a turn for the better and the increase in water temperature has fairly brought the fish to life. Prospects for the coming week are excellent provided we don`t have a return to winter .
