A few months ago the question was raised about saltwater tube flies.

I bought some bits and bobs when in the UK and have hit the vice this afternoon fuelled with some simple ideas
A bit of inspiration from grhe and i came up with this on a 1/2" loop bottle tube, dead easy and looks really effective.
Should be light enough to cast easily too.

With clear rubber/no rubber



with hot orange rubber, nice hot spot/gills



I have more ideas bubbling so we'll see what appears

The flies look very good.

If I remember correctly, when we first discussed this someone raised the problem that if you get a take and the fly slips up the leader while you are bringing the fish in, other fish in the shoal might attack the fly and bite through he leader.

Have you got a solution for this or are you just hoping for the best?

Slide a rubber float stop on the leader first, the nt the fly, then tie on the hook. Slide the stop down to the tube, about 3 cm infront. Sorted.

You still get the seperation from the hook to stop leaverage but the tube only moves a few centimeters from the fish.

These ones are for Pike fishing and will grip lines from 8-30 pounds.

PS: Love the bit on your Australian Forum about 3-4  Wts . Amazing stuff and really what fly fishing is  , or  really should be about .
