I didn't dare get any closer


After we saw him we went for a swim



This was a nice bay on Rottnest island, were we did some snorkeling, we noticed later the shadow just to the left of the boat on the left was swimming up and down the flat.
We estimated it to be at least 6ft long and it had a friend the same size. Estuary cod? Don't think they were sharks

Some wrasse and something else?



A shoal of gobbleguts hiding in the weed



Some herring and stripey things



A large snail with fantastic colours



Odd looking unidentified swimming object



Some fast wee bait fish, that shows how translucence works



Good job we didn't see the shadows until we came out of the water, we were swimming around the main reef in the front of the picture.
We may have missed some fantastic stuff

This was "lunch" on Loch Davan yesterday.

Couldn't get near them



I suspect even the foxes might have a problem with them bunched together like that.

i hope you took a rod to rottnest?it is very good fishing

flathead on the fly are great.they hit the fly so hard.theres so many diferent types of strange fish over ther that hit your fly hard and strip the line off

the waters so clear when your snorkling its ace.

o ye i was diving a few times only a 100 yards or so off the beach and there is shit loads of sharks at the time of year we were there.they dont bother you tho

would love to catch one of them on the fly but wasnt close enough

We went to Rottnest on the Ferry from Perth, had a fantastic time just relaxing and doing a wee bit of swimming, got talking to a guy who was hand lining at "The Basin" and catching loads of Wrasse.
Quokkas are a laugh.
Really need to spend a couple of days there tho

Went there in 1990 but didn't take my fishing rod as I was courting a young lady with lovely lungs! 

Hilary's was my chosen haunt.

Went there in 1988, stayed at the Rottnest Island Hotel for 2 nights, when my ship was berthed in Fremantle for a fortnight, was also the first time I met "Kevin Bloody Wilson" in a bar in Fremantle
