Lochter Report – Merry Times at Lochter
« on: 17/05/2022 at 13:40 »
Down Lochter way last week the month of May was living up to it’s reputation as the ‘merriest’ month of the year.  May was named after the Greek Goddess Maia (of springtime and growth) and we certainly had a ‘growthy’ number of seemingly content anglers making their way to the Fishery to test their skills against our home grown Lochter trout.

Action near the top of the water continued again last week and those who had 20 plus fish were Ricky Lottit solely on dries, Chavdar Chavdarov on apps bloodworm buzzers, Ronnie Ewen on diawl bachs, dries and snatchers, Simon Ruddieman on foam buzzers, Ernie Mackay on buzzers and dries and Kenny Wilson on hawthorns and Klinkhammers.
Keith McHattie stuck with his CDC shuttlecocks to good effect as he had 18 fish and also on 18 was Albert Trail who used a shipmans buzzer with one of his fish being about the 10lb mark.

Fred McCally used his own tied CDC buzzers and sedgehogs for 15 fish, Jim Adie also had 15 on dry flies, Steve Prince mixed it up between buzzers and diawl bachs for 14 fish, Bill Bain had 12 fish on buzzers and Davy Wood stuck to his favourite WSW lure for 9 fish.

Craig Morrison fished CDC hoppers and f flies for 9 fish, Liam McDonald used top hat buzzers for 9 fish and also on 9 fish were Bart Laurencon using buzzers and fabs and Neil Garden on dries and buzzers.
Early indications suggest that the good fishing conditions will continue for the week ahead so it’s a slight reason to be merry in these uncertain times.
