Down Lochter way there was a gusty blow almost every day of last week with the forecast of more storms ahead to add an extra blast.
As every fly fisherman knows, windy weather can be pretty disheartening but we still had a steady cohort of anglers who either put their backs to the wind or found that elusive bit of shelter.
On the fishing front, things were pretty steady for the time of year with a lot of positive feedback that our rainbows are in good condition and fighting well.
Mike Skene from Aberdeen continued to do well with over 20 fish for his 8-hour session using apps bloodworm, buzzers and small damsels.
Kenny Taylor fished mostly the Muckle Troot on a sinking lure with either a humungous lure or yellow dancer and he obviously found the right depth getting 14 fish for his day.
Graham Urquhart fished black buzzers on the dropper with an orange apps bloodworm on the lead fly and he landed 12 fish including one about 8lb.
A. Sinclair fished a fab deep in the water and it did the trick, getting him 11 fish for his day.
Between 4-6 fish was the average for the week but other returns were Graham Rogers with 10 fish on fly’s that were red and green be that cormorants or buzzers, Paul Ingram had 9 on squirmy worms, Ali Hunter had 9 on yellow squirmy worms and Dennis McBain had 7 on the Ali McCoist lure.
There is an old saying that “if you want to see the sunshine you have to weather the storm”.
Now this could be opt for all aspects of life at present but on a fishing front calmer sunny weather would be most welcome.
