Down Lochter way there is now a beautiful display of Autumn colours and as the days start to shorten and temperatures drop it brings out the exceptional show of bronze, yellow and gold in our now mature surrounding woodlands and it offers a lovely backdrop for our anglers to enjoy.
There is a saying that of all the seasons “Autumn offers the most to man and requires the least of him,” and that “Autumn shows us how beautiful it is to let things go”.
Now some of our anglers maybe took this to heart as it was another week when broken leaders and lost flies were still to the fore as our hard fighting fish continued to give a meaningful challenge.
Jim Findlay had an excellent all day session, still using a floating line with a relatively long leader and two droppers he had 18 fish on a combination of hare’s ears, cormorants, buzzers and beaded diawl bachs.
Bill Fowler from Newmachar on a sink tip line used either a hot head damsel or mini humongous to bring his 16 fish to the net.
Albert Trail fished the apps bloodworm to good effect getting 17 fish on it, Stuart Howie used a variety of lures for his 14 fish, Greg Masson had 13 on the snake lure and both Ryan Taylor and Alfie Cheyne also used this lure and got 11 and 9 fish respectively.
Bill Wood used mainly the WSW lure, which got him 12 fish to the net, Derek Reid stuck to a selection of cormorants to get 11 fish and Eric Dickie had 9 fish on black lures.
We can only hope that for the week ahead that the rain abates somewhat and that things become a lot less soggy.
Tight lines,
S.P 2/11/21.
