Prompted by Sandy’s kind advice that I could and perhaps should build my own fibreglass rod for use on overgrown streams, I remembered that I have a bundle of old fibreglass “spinning “ rods in the garage. A quick assembly and wiggle suggests they may be suitable for repurposing and they seem to be the right sort of length.
I have read / watched various YouTube tutorials about how to measure the “weight” of a rod, but putting the cart before the horse, how do you calculate the ring spacing please as the existing rings are somewhat few and far between as well as being over sized.
The advantage of this is obviously low cost and the opportunity to try rod building with no risk.
All advice gratefully received.
