The year, so far, has been nothing short of disastrous as far as fishing conditions were concerned with low temperatures reducing the water temperature close to icing although fortunately we have avoided this up to date. However, the main adverse effect was from the incessant and heavy rainfall which led to water levels raised to overflowing on two occasions and the ensuing deeply coloured water leaving conditions not suitable for angling. Catches were limited, the best amongst them being;
G Ellington, Ellon, 16 fish, (yellow buzzer), L Davidson, Macduff, 11 fish, (nomad, cormorant), A Smith, Ellon, 10 fish, (buzzers), A Murray, Gardenstown, 7 fish, (green/white fritz), N Thomson, Turriff, 7 fish, (buzzers), S McLean, Fraserburgh, 6 fish, (olive lures).
As of today (Sunday) conditions have returned to normal and the forecast to mid week look good although rain is forecast towards the weekend. Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery is open seven days from 8am til dusk and boats (where required), rods and tackle is available for hire at the fishery. Booking is not necessary.
