Although the weather for vacationers hasn’t been ideal, on the upside, it has been excellent for catching fish. To prove a point, Robert Devlin from Ayrshire caught ten on buzzers and small nymphs. Raymond Kelbie from Blairgowrie had eight on cats whiskers and nomads and Steve Weir on holiday with his family from Paisley had seven on okay dokays and black buzzers.
There were also plenty families on the bait ponds and they were all catching and having a great day out despite the weather.
Local fishers also had a good time with it and Bill Gibb had nine on buzzers and blobs, Ken Gibson from Aberdeen had eight on dries during an evening session and Tom Christie from Newmachar also in the evening had seven fish to CDC shuttlecocks and klinkhammers.
Hopefully these good evening rises will continue into the next week.
Special mention to the Frigate Bar Angling Club who had an outing at Lochter Fishery on Saturday. They were led to the water by Ian Findlay their ‘ in house ‘ expert on all fishing matters. The weather was kind on the day and most participants caught at least a few fish. They followed this by a lovely BBQ washed down with a variety of ‘softish’ drinks as they talked about the ones they had caught and not the ones that had got away.
With no sign of high summer weather, then at least the fishers amongst us can take consolation that the fishing conditions are good.
