Thought this of interest while searching for "fill" for my local fly fishing club newsletter.
At the end of the article there is reference to a rod builder of those times, Alfred Carter.
Is there any history or writings of Mr. Carter? I'd be interested. And I'd like to know any comments or added thoughts on the PDF article as it was published.

Alfred Carter was the owner of A. Carter and Co, London. Some of their rods and reels come up on ebay occasionally. Oldest I have seen was late 1800's which was a 3" fly reel. Went for £3-400. They were renowned for several nice "Thames" rods that were longer than standard float rods of the times for dealing with the deep, fast flow of the Thames. I wonder if these rather interesting joints were used on them to reduce weight??
