The continuing extensive period of wind and rain has proved a real tester for those hardy souls who ventured out during the week. Most success was to be had across at the Muckle Trout loch where the water level had remained constant and less coloured. As a consequence it was restocked this week with some lovely conditioned fish to boost the chance of some decent sport in the difficult weather. Lures have been the order of the day mostly pulled near the bottom but when any brightness did bless us the fish were quick to move near the surface to feed. A couple of notable catches were John Williamson from Aberdeen who tempted 6 to the net on a yellow dancer and Paul Stirton from Newmachar who had 5 on a white fritz. Other lures that took fish were some old favourites the ace of spades, pink zonker and cat's whisker.Although the weather forecast is not particularly encouraging for the week ahead we can but hope there are enough bright spells to keep the fish moving and feeding.
