The past week has seen very mixed weather conditions with rain and wind predominating. Tuesday saw our first icing incident with 50% of the water surface affected although the afternoon breeze dispelled the threat and Wednesday morning was all clear again. Yesterday and today (Sunday) has seen steady heavy rainfall with a resultant rise in the water levels but more annoying, the water is now very coloured and will take a day or two to clear.
The fish caught have all been contacted deep this week with a variety of lures (cat's whisker, WSW and blob) being most successful along with the bloodworm also fished deep on a slow retrieve. The best recorded catches were; G Linklater, Peterhead, 14 fish, (bloodworm), M Shewan, Aberdeen, 12 fish, (blob), B Fury, Peterhead, 6 fish, (blob/cat's whisker), J Bill, Peterhead, 5 fish, (cat's whisker), D Stewart, Aberdeen, 5 fish, (bloodworm), K Maddocks, Aberdeen, 5 fish, (bunny leech).
The prospects for the coming week will obviously depend on the weather with frost forecast for tonight. The water colour will also take time to clear although this does not always affect catching achievements.
