Thanks Jim,

I did see that but would like to hear personal opinions rather than those on a sales promo vid    The Circa took the place of the ZXL in the Sage range from what I can gather.

I think the rod is brilliant, it has the best handle i've ever come across on a fly rod with some of the best cork i've seen in decades.
The snakes are a little heavy, but you don't notice when casting it. Beautifully smooth and relaxed. To me, its a classic sage fly rod along the lines of the LL/SPL , but with a better recovery and lighter due to the nanotech stuff. You know yourself its very subjective, but you are welcome to try it out if you like and find out what you think.
I found it a great dryfly rod on the river. I have 5wt version, but it is great with an SLX 4 on a nice day and a 5 in the wind, when it can be wound up quite well. I think of all the lines i tried on it over the season the 5wt GT90 was the best combo, especially for presentation with a single dry fly.

Thanks Sandy, do you notice that it is 3" short compared to a 9' rod when fishing it?  

You say the snakes are heavy, any idea what brand & size they are?  Not an issue as I will build the thing but with it being a slower blank, do you think it would have a negative effect on the rod if the top two sections were built lighter?

Sage seem to have moved away from H&H rings and have gone bigger, Snake Brands used on TCX and although thin they are not as light (looking at them) as H&H thin snakes.  I built my Methods using TCX specs as Method specs were not available so put on ring sizes for matching TCX's.  The Method spacings (identical to TCX) are now up and they are two sizes bigger on upper sections of some rods and none of them are thin wire guides  ???

Hi Ben,
I have a couple of Circa's The 5# and the 4# both 8ft 9in
The promo video does not do them justice. They have a very relaxed feel to them but it is a more than capable rod, even on the bigger rivers(clyde) I have used them since middle of last season with dries and nymphs. They bend with very little line out allowing for short accurate casts without thinking much,extend the line and still the rod tracks true.
I tend to use the 5# more but to be honest they are samey. I use a Rio LT line. For years(since i sold my sp) I have been looking for THE fishing rod for me.I have it now. I have never really noticed any difference due to length. 
Also have a couple of the Methods 5# and 6# both 9ft. Cross between the TCX and TCR but more user friendly than the TCR(fishing wise). Very noticeable differences between the Method and the ONE. The main difference is that The One bends deeper into the butt section where the Method feels steely.
I am no distance Caster but using the Method 5# I can carry more line(platinum) than with the 5#One.
Strange trying to explain when I do not do the distance thing
Happy to send it up to you for a cast,I wont be using it until spring
