With very nice cash prizes up for grabs the final of the Lochter Summer Series was not surprisingly a closely fought affair. When the scores were in the winner was adjudged to be Andrew Barrowman, narrowly ahead of Kevin Neri with Ronnie Ewan in third place. Mr Bill Thomson MD of the sponsors E-M Diagnostics was on hand to present the cheques to the winners and to announce that next year has company would sponsor fishing events for disabled groups .He invited the anglers present to join in to help with the days when they are arranged. On behalf of the fishery Howard Hughes thanked Mr Thomson for his support over many years and Jim Doyle did likewise on behalf of the anglers.
In two weeks time on 23rd October the fishery hosts the Bank Fishing International run by SANA and volunteer controllers are required to assist with the smooth running of the event .Anglers willing to assist are requested to contact Stuart Patterson on 01651 872787 or 872000.This is a great opportunity for fishers to enjoy a top angling occasion and give something back to their sport.
Fishing has continued to be excellent during the past week with fish showing all over the lochs. Bags of eight ,nine and ten plus have been commonplace with everything from small diawl bachs to WSW`s all working. Mike Frost had ten on WSW`s , Lennie Davidson ten on nomads and Tom Teil eighteen on damsel nymphs. Buzzers worked for M Sutherland while diawl bachs and cormorants attracted fourteen for Jim Jackson, all safely returned.
At this time temperatures are unseasonably high but are due to drop towards the end of the week. These fluctuations usually have the effect of keeping the fish active and feeding so anglers can anticipate continued good sport.
