Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

Kevin Moss

The much welcome rain brought the fishing back to what it was before the heat along with bringing water levels back up and cooling down the water enough to get fish off the bottom and feeding again. It was normal fishing resumed and it showed in the returns  with Kevin Middlemiss catching a variety of fish including an 8lb 7ozs fish,a Bream of 3lbs on an okey dokey and to cap off his 16 fish a Tagged fish to boot.Martin McCulluch landed an 8lb fish,Slater Scott had 8 ,Ian Munro had 10 fish with an 8lb 1ozs fish his best,Brian Young was pleased when he landed a nice fish of 9lbs 11ozs,Colin Carmichael had a good session and landed his best fish ever at a good 9lb 2ozs,Tom Webster from Glasgow had a worthwhile trip landing a beauty at 6lb 15ozs ready for the BBQ,Ronnie Ewen had 11 fish on Kate Mclarens,George Angus had a cracker at 6lb 12ozs,Chris Johnston a full finned and tailed beauty at 5lb 4ozs and he also won the Summer Bumper weekend  prize of a sea trout landing net for the closest weight of 4lbs 9ozs and Paul Sharp finished his session with 16 fish on dries. The averages were up again and nearly all anglers caught fish and had plenty of touches. With alot of fry in the water at the moment August and september bodes well for fry bash time a sthe rainbows will feed well on these and you never know what will turn up on the end of your hook as alot of Eels of good sizes have been caught regularly over the past few weeks and Russ Turner hooked into a bottom feeding Gudgeon taken on a buzzer. Some big Tigers are in the water now around 5 to 6lbs and these will certainly test any anglers tackle. Its also good to see the larger rainbows moving and coming out daily. As Kev Middlemiss showed you could also hook into a bream or even a carp, you just never know.
For those interested in wildlife we place daily on our facebook pages and also on the website wildlife gallery, some of the pictures taken by our night cameras placed around the Glen and Millbuies fisheries of some of the wildlife we have wandering during the night which are interesting to see.

Coarse Loch.

This loch has fished very well. Some excellent bags have been taken and Paul Nash,John Allsopp,Kev Mant  all had mixed bags of Carp, roach, rudd, ide skimmers and gudgeon with well over the 5o fish mark each.Others who fished all caught but its down to the methods and knowing the loch which brings the success. We always said it takes time to get  the loch fishing the way it should and with the amount of silver fish being caught its starting to show and can only improve with some plans to improve it even further.
