Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

The Aul Troot

Our summer has arrived and the only question now is for how long? The water temperature has risen but surprisingly the surface activity has remained low and hampered by the north easterly breeze. This week has seen the WSW reign supreme with four of the top five landing most of their fish with this lure.
Unfortunately the combination of sunshine and temperature has led to an algae bloom in the water with discolouring but this should clear with the rain forecast for mid week.
The top catches this week fell to;
A Murray, Gardenstown, 30 fish, (black WSW), J Dewar, Fraserburgh, 13 fish, (peach WSW), P Cowie, Fraserburgh, 8 fish, (white WSW), P Keir, Fyvie, 7 fish, (black WSW), G Burton, Gardenstown, 7 fish, (pink blob).
The forecast for the coming week suggests that we will receive some rainfall which will help to freshen up the water and rid us of the algae bloom.
Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery is a Troutmaster water and is open seven days from 8:00am til 10:00pm and visitors and novices are welcome. Boats (where required), rods and tackle is available for hire at the fishery.
