The past week has remained unseasonably cold with a persistent wind blowing all week. Despite these conditions the fishing has proved very good and the surface activity has been very noticeable. The fish however are refusing to opt for the artificial dry as they pursue an abundance of midge hatches. Whilst a lot of the catches have been taken from deeper with various lures, an increasing number have succumbed to nymphs and buzzers.
The best catches recorded this week fell to:
A Murray, Gardenstown, 40 fish, (purple fritz), C Fraser, Turriff, 23 fish, (diawl bach/buzzers), L Davidson, Macduff, 19 fish, (black fritz), J Mitchell, Aberdeen, 11 fish, (Olive WSW), R Donald, Macduff, 8 fish, (buzzers), D Stewart, Aberdeen, 7 fish, (buzzers).
This week has also saw a considerable number of fish landed in the 8-10lb range with W Senior, C Fraser (2), J Mitchell, R Donald and L Davidson (2) recording fish in this weight range.
