Don or Deveron early season browns
« on: 14/02/2013 at 08:59 »
This might be a stupid question  :X1 and i am thinking it is considering the rivers are neighbors but does anyone think one of the rivers brown trout either on the Don or Deveron have an easier time over the winter compared to the other, possibly due to catchment, water temps, type of food available in the river etc?

New wading boots arrived today so planning some early season touting but if one rivers fish have an easier time over the winter would leave the others in peace to get their conditioning back.

Am thinking the answers no but just wondering.

Cheers

The Deveron opens earlier for trout fishing, but if we get a cold spring, it can be well into April before you get any rises. Last spring was unusually mild early on and they were rising well during March. Saying that I have usually noticed that the Don trout seem to fill out quicker than those on the Deveron.

Can't say i've noticed that Graham, but to be fair i've never looked for it.

Will do now though.
