Today, Sunday (23/09/23) sees our first serious frost of the forthcoming winter with sub zero termperature and a low lying haar on the water surface which was preceded by a lengthy period of windscreen scraping. Although there is a reasonable amount of surface activity it must be considered that the dramatic drop in temperature will herald the death knell for the daddy longlegs and his dry fly companions and increase the activity at lower levels as fish are driven down. This does not mean that we abandon the dry fly box as there will still be days where activity will justify their use but as can be seen from this weeks main catches, all of the anglers featured were fishing sub surface and predominantly with lures. "Ah Well", that was the summer that was!

Delgatie Castle is a Troutmaster water and is currently open 7 days from 8:00am til 7:00pm although closing times will now be monitored and adjusted to suit daylight conditions.
