Can we now detect the approach of the late autumn/winter fishing which has been partly symbolised by lower air/water temperatures and the fast approaching darker evenings but possibly more noticeable by the ever increasing emergence of the intermediate line and lures. This has been the preferred fishing option this week by quite a few anglers although the dry fly especially the "daddy" has enjoyed periods of activity and the upper layers of the water is still producing good sport. The fishery has enjoyed a good weeks fishing despite the more mixed weather with squally showers and stiffer breezes throughout the week.
The best recorded returns this week were recorded to;
D Stewart, Aberdeen, 22 fish, (WSW/dry lures), J Murison, Banff, 11 fish, (WSW/dry,wet flies), A Murray, Gardenstown, 11 fish, (Black/Gren Fritz), L Davidson, Macduff, 9 fish, (Olive Fritz), A Gibson, Lanark, 8 fish, (CDC/Bibio), S Innes, Portknockie, 7 fish, (Brown Hopper), I Stanford, Peterhead, 7 fish, (Bloodworm/Buzzer), J Webster, Portlethen, 6 fish, (Cat's Whisker), G Burton, Gardenstown, 6 fish, (Pink Blob), M Shand, Peterhead, 6 fish, (Cat's Whisker/White WSW).
