Last Sunday 22/7/12, saw our annual visit from the members of the Fraserburgh Angling Club and good weather prevailed all day. They landed 64 fish for their day with G Dewar (9) and J Dewar (8) catching the greater number and S Tait and B Tait with the heaviest fish. Both managing 5lb + specimens.
During the week anglers enjoyed or endured erratic fishing and whilst most managed to land fish, big catches were few and far between and the varieties of fishing methods and tackle bore testament to the erratic behaviour and feeding patterns of the fish. The best recorded catches fell to;
S Whyte, Fraserburgh, 10 fish, (CDC/Buzzers), L Davidson, Macduff, 6 fish, (Cormorant), C MacLean, Fraserburgh, 6 fish, (Dy/Wet flies), H Murphy, Laurencekirk, 6 fish, (Buzzers), I Watt, Turriff, 5 fish, (Dry/Buzzers), F Murray, Buckie, 5 fish, (Buzzers), J Hall, Turriff, 5 fish, (Dry/Buzzers).
The torrential rain on Saturday should freshen up the water but the abundance of natural feeding is dampening down the fish appreciation for artificial lures.
Billy Gray from Largue managed to land an £80 fish when he grassed a 4lb tagged specimen.
Delgatie Castle is a Troutmaster water, open 7 days from 8:00am til 9:00pm and booking is not necessary. Boats (where required), rods and tackle is available for hire at the fishery.
