Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

The Aul Troot

As predicted, a nice week of settled weather with higher than normal temperatures leading to good fish activity and reasonable catches. Surprisingly this week we are still recording fish falling to a dry fly with C McLean of Fraserburgh landing six on a hopper and the Klinkhammer and Daddy accounting for other surface fish. It must be expected that the fish are much deeper and that lures will be the order of the day with Pink derivations being predominant. The best recorded catches were;

A Murray, Gardenstown, 17 fish, (White Fritz), E Quirie, Turriff, 14 fish (Pink Blob and Buzzers), J Mackay, Elgin, 11 fish, (Cat's Whiskers), C Field, Fraserburgh, 10 fish, (Pink Blob), B McLean, Fraserburgh, 9 fish, (Various Lures)

This coming week is predicted to drop temperatures and the fish will probably be feeding nearer the bottom . One checking last years' records we were closed due to weather conditions from the 16th November to 13th December and from 16th December until the 16th January. Let's hope we do not have a repeat of these conditions.

Delgatie Castle is a Troutmaster water where beginners and visitors are welcome. We are open seven days from 8:00am til Dusk and bookings are not necessary. Boats, rods and tackle are available for hire. For further information phone Bob on 07980 999 006. :z15
