Lochter Fishing Report 16/1/12
A mixture of windy weather in the earlier part of the week followed by hard frosty days made for tricky fishing conditions for the hardy souls who ventured out.
The feathery variety of Comarant can so often scourge of many fisheries; but its small lure name sake was found to be very effective particularly those with a red or kingfisher blue flash. G Anderson had 10 using this lure; J Laing had 9 and R Stephen 7.
Okay Dolcay’s were another popular method and George Pirie had 14, M Weir 7 and Rob Mearns 6. The most common and successful lures used during the week were the black bodied and red faced ‘little devil’, the Montana Nymph and the black bunny leech particularly when fished slow and deep at the Muckle Trout.
Karen Gillies and Pete Green had an exceptional day with 16 and 11 respectively using the wooly worm and bloodworm combination.
A reminder that the popular Robbie Burns Pairs Competition takes place at the fishery on Sunday 29th January and it has a 9.30am start. This is the first competition of the year and it is a great social event to meet up with old and new like minded fishers in the area especially at lunchtime while enjoying your haggis, neeps and tatties.
