The TV show Strictly Come Dancing is more popular than ever .It has an interesting variety of celebs and some dashed attractive female professional dancers .This phenomenon has not been lost on the angling fraternity at Lochter Fishery Oldmeldrum where there has been considerable interest in the troupe of “dancer “ flies available at the fishery. The yellow dancer has always been popular but now she has been joined by the Hotty dancer which has an attractive red head, the Pole dancer with a green beady eye and the Lap dancer suitably alluring in orange with big soulful painted eyes.
Bill Taylor for Buckie used dancers to account for fifteen fine fish and Harry Hughes from Kemnay was delighted when twelve trout found his Pole dancers irresistible. Raymond McKay who was demonstrating his hunter gathering skills to his wife Gwen was jumping with joy at the success of his dancer patterns.
The dancers did not have it all their own way, J Bourke used a black and green nomad to grass fourteen, Pete the Feet had seventeen including one at 8lbs and another at 5lbs + on a selection of buzzers and fritz flies and G Addison stuck to buzzers and was delighted to end with a bag of thirteen. Other top scorers were G Howie with fourteen, J Rhind with ten and N Smith with sixteen. Finally it was nice to welcome Laurencekirk and District anglers to the fishery. The seven anglers grassed thirty one fish in quite testing conditions so well done to them.
At the time of writing this report the air temperature is in the upper teens which if it is maintained will make for very pleasant fishing conditions and plenty of autumn action.
