alternative to spiderweb

I'm looking for a new (to me) tying thread primarily to use on flies with parachute type hackles.  Flies from 14's to early twenties range.

Any thoughts?

don't know what you have :z8
but I have a particular fondness for Bennechi 14/0
comes in loads of great colours and is lovely to tie with in all sizes from 12 down

cheers

Hi Iain

I have been using a thread very similar to Sheer by Gordon Griffiths, loads of great colours, splits well and you can finish off parachute flies under the parachute hackle without causing the hackle fibres to flare upwards.

Send me a PM and I will see if I have a spare spool (I will have transferred the thread onto a sewing machine spool though).

Works great with a small Matarelli bobbin holder.

Kev.

Looks like the GG Sheer 14/0 or Bennichi 12/0 are the favourites.

Iain

What's wrong with spiderweb? Have they stopped making it?

Thanks Robbie - I ordered some GG Sheer yesterday though  :z16

Irvine, nowt wrong with Spiderweb but as it's basically a fine round monofilament I was looking for a flat thread to use when tying in CDL tails and applying dubbing on small patterns.
