Water temperature has dropped considerably this week and the forecast suggests that a further drop is due. This appears to have driven the fish much deeper in the water and the better results have come from lures with black, olive, silver and orange being the predominant colours although most of these combinations have had a touch of white. Some fish have still been landed from the surface or immediately sub surface but their numbers are now falling.
Some of the better numbers have fallen to:
J Burton Aberdeen 10
G Alexander Fraserburgh 9
S Faithful Mintlaw 12
M Smith Peterhead 8
A noticeable number of fish in the 5-6lb range have been landed and recorded by K Tocher Peterhead, Darren Bess Stuartfield, N Bray Stuartfield, B Gray Largue, M Ewen Turriff and M Ewen jnr Turriff. The last of the weed is now dying off but has been replaced by falling leaves although this is a much more manageable problem.
It was encouraging to see so many junior anglers present this week with 8 under 12 year olds trying their hand.
