I had sea trout in mind when I tied this one.

Hook size 10 partridge big mouth Double
black tying thread
Tail DNA Pearl
Body silver tinsel with a palmered spun loop of CDC (2 feathers)
Wing long CDC fibres topped with black arctic fox

A CDC Humpy??

Tying is

Hook - 14 B170 (or any lightweight dry fly hook of your choice)
Thread - Olive
Body - LDO masterclass dubbing(or your choice)
Hackle - Grizzle
Back & Wing - A CDC feather. Tip is the wing & the rest is pulled down 'wonderwing' style, rolled then pulled over the back.

And the week after I sent these I got the latsest FF&FT mag - guess what - someone stole my idea!!!!!

Dont want to seem premature on this but I think all the results are in  So long as we've had all the entries.......

You have to give to poor old man a chance.
He'll get there.................................

.....................eventually :z4

I can tell you the end results were unbeliveably close.

Considering there were 3 months, 3 judges, 5 categories marked out of 5, it ended up with just 3 points between the top 3 :wink

Brilliant flies all round :z16 well done everyone :z16

Hi folks

Based on a max of 5 points from each of the 3 markers for (1) use of materials (2) originality (3) tying skill (4) fishability (5) consistancy of your 2 flies .......... which makes a max score of 75 points per entry

The results for your January Marabou flies are as follows:

Jeroen "Dutchfly" - 57.5 pts ( wins 1st place and the Barrio Fly Line of his choice ) Well done Jeroen!
Mike Livingstone - 57 pts
Irvine "Hares Lug" - 56.5 pts
Peter "rabbitangler" - 55 pts
John "jbb" - 54 pts
Chris "turracoo" - 51.5 pts
Iain "goolager" - 49 pts
Kev Danby - 46.5 pts
Alex "catman" - 30.5 pts
Jay "jayscott" - 23 pts

The results for your February Pearl Tinsel Flies are as follows:

Kev Danby - 63 pts ( wins 1st place and the Barrio Fly Line of his choice ) Well done Kev!
John "jbb" - 59.5 pts
Peter "rabbitangler" - 58.5 pts
Irvine "Hares Lug" - 58.5 pts
Mike Livingstone - 56.5 pts
Chris "turracoo" - 53 pts
Alex "catman" - 47.5 pts
Jeroen "Dutchfly" - 40 pts
Jay "jayscott" - 38 pts

The results for your March CDC Flies are as follows:

Mike Livingstone - 60 pts
Kev Danby - 53.5 pts
Jeroen "Dutchfly" - 50 pts
Chris "turracoo" - 48.5 pts

Well done everyone who entered, some belting flies in there :z16 Couple of ideas I might even "borrow" myself  :z4

Bearing in mind there were 3 very different judges it's remarkable that 1st-3rd place are split by a mere 2 points over 3 rounds :!

Excellent stuff

And ...... what the XXX??? happened with Rob? ???

Now that is a good question..... hmmmmmmm  :cry

Well you could knock me down with a feather! and that's what I though Peter and Mike would do. When I saw the photos of their flies I was sure one of them would win :z14
There was some great patterns and lovely tying on display by everyone who entered and now we have an on-line resource of fly patterns for anyone to copy.

A big thank you to Mike, Hamish and Sandy for giving their time and making it all possible :z16

Jings :shock

I thoroughly enjoyed it as usual :z16

I can only apologise it took so long to get the marking done, but unforseen trips for both Hamish and myself made things more tricky, still we got there in the end

Great to see people thinking about the materials and what they are good for, that was the idea.
Some great ideas appeared and some cracking flies.Well done to all Again :z16

I would add that a lot of people lost marks for consistancy between the two flies.
So for next year, you can bear that in mind  :wink
