I saw this variation of the Griffiths gnat on instagram the other day. I really liked the idea, I reckon it would be very effective when small black stuff are on the menu.
While I was tying a few, I thought id make a wee SBS. hope you like it.

Hook: Size 20 Curved grub style hook, this is a D900
Thread: Semperfli spider 18/0 black
Tail: a couple of strands of pearl Madeira
Rib: Silver wire
Thorax: Peacock here
Hackle: Grizzle genetic cock

Step one: Put the hook in the vice and start the thread

Step Two: Tie in the rib and tail

Step three: Wind thread down around the bend, trim tags of material and wind back to 1/3rd back from the eye, to make the body.

Step four: wind rib up body

Step Five: Tie in the herl and hackle

Step Six: touch the thread base with varnish or superglue and wind the peacock here forward and tie down

Step Seven: Wind the Hackle fwd through the peacock and tie down

Step Eight: Form the head and varnish, trim the bottom of the hackle flat
