I seem to have developed a knack for selling tackle to my father, safe in the knowledge that i'll get it back eventually. Knowing fine that he is likely to read this I trust that it inspires him to try to outlive me and if its any small way able to keep him around longer, then i'd happily let him buy all my gear with the exception of the first Abel i bought for myself in my early teens - he's not getting that

I also prefer the black over silver tippet rings as fish tend to have a habit of going for the silver rings instead of the fly

At its age it has to be out of date to a degree now, but some things don't shift all that much. It's well written and if you're interested in the loch as it was and the fishing at the time, getting a copy might be a good idea.

With the trout season over we must be entering the tying season (not that my tying really has a season), maybe we will see some more activity on this thread.
Today I experimented a little with the Holy Grail pattern using CDC for the body and collar.
