Hi Scott, welcome to the forum  :z16

Thanks for the introduction, you will have lots of great water to explore and enjoy on the upper river.

Looking forward to your posts and crossing paths on the banks.

Cheers
Mike

Hello Everyone,
Thank you for accepting me into the forum.
My name is Scott and I am about to move and settle in Glenkindie next month.  I am very much looking forward to getting back into fly fishing after working abroad for the last 30 years and having very little time to pursue my passion. I grew up in Herefordshire, fishing the River Wye mostly. Being new to the area I will be calling on all your experience and guidance over the coming months. I very much look forward to catching up with some of you soon. All the best Scott. :z18

With less folk fishing, no spinning, no prawns and no worms, that has to be one of the best years.
Yep, I would agree with that comment Sandy.

From the IAA newsletter, the heaviest Salmon on the Inverurie Burgh Fishings this year was 20lbs netted by Peter Rejzner and on the A&K Fishings 25lbs by Ralph Green Snr.

Let’s hope it’s the first of 6 like the historical patterns suggest.  I would be interested to see what the change in sizes has been, lots of the fish I’ve seen this year have been fairly small in the 3-5lb range

I’ve seen lots of fish in the system all season and I’m surprised there wasn’t more caught.  I was standing on Montgarrie bridge last week just looking upstream and in 15 minutes I saw 6 fish moving upstream with 3 or 4 behind me splashing about. It’s been like that for weeks.

I have these to read for the winter, to follow on from ‘the earth is enough’  which I read over the summer.  I really took to Middleton’s writing style.

The middle one is on my tying desk and has been all season, also by the couch and the bed at various points. By far and away the  best flytying book I have. Very inspiring and lots of positive reinforcement from someone who fishes a similar way to me.

I’ve no doubt at some point I’ll pick up a Geirach too. My favourite is ‘ standing in a river waving a stick’ which is the first one I read as I loved the title, very much buying a book from its cover.

Nice one Graham  :)  I haven't got round to posting a letter to Santa yet.

I suspect quite a few folk will grab one of John's books from the shelf this winter. A Fly Rod Of Your Own is sitting ready on my coffee table.

Trout Bum remains my favourite, it was the first Gierach book that I read,  and like many on here - I guess I'm a bit of a Troutbum at heart too.
