Fishing The Fly Scotland Forum

The Aul Troot

That was a week that was! Torrential rain all day Wednesday followed by rising levels and coloured water on Thursday/Friday. However, the week had started well and has returned to normal for the weekend. As I write our friends from the Fraserburgh Angling Club are bending their rods and filling the bank with polythene bags. A fuller report next week as their session ends later.
Despite the mid week deluge, good catches were recorded including:

James West         Fraserburgh      15 fish
I Watt                Turriff              11 fish
J O'Neill               Mintlaw            11 fish
G Sutherland        Fraserburgh      9 fish
C Fields               Fraserburgh      6 fish

The best Junior by far was S Cresswell, Macduff with 5 fish to 5.5lbs.

Also recorded was:

M Sutherland       Fraserburgh       12lb
R Mackenzie        Burghead           9.5lb
K Murray             Buckie              7lb

Fish were being taken on lures, Nymphs, Buzzers, Dry and no two anglers were catching on the same tackle - a real mixed bag.

We can now detect the evenings beginning to draw in but hope to enjoy some good evening sessions during August/September.

Delgatie Castle is now a Troutmaster water and beginners are always welcome as well as visiting anglers. Tackle available for hire.
